Logos and Logotypes

I love designing Logos and Logotypes. For one, they’re a compelling visual way to tell a story about a company or organization surrounding their values and their identity. To put it another way they’re a data compression and delivery device all in one — they can be packed with so much information, both conscious and unconscious depending on the experience of the viewer. This is why it’s critical a logo delivers all the information they should and none of what they shouldn’t.

Also, they’re often the first thing others see when they engage with our businesses, and thus should be unique, meaning-rich, and professional. As you likely know, the initial experience someone has with something often molds their feelings about it and can play a large part in guiding action.

It is with these thoughts in mind that I make my goals when designing logos — ones that tell stories and are imbued positive feelings for a viewers first impression.

Here’s a small selection of brand identity, in particular, logos that I’ve had the pleasure of creating:

‘IRIS Logo’ , Client: Eligea LLC
IRIS needed to have a clean logo that would work great on business cards and letterhead. It needed to promote feelings of trustworthiness, “institutionality” and a hint of grandeur. I was inspired by the IBM logo by Paul Rand for this one!
‘Eligea Logo’ , Client: Eligea LLC
Eligea is a company that works on sustainability I knew the logo needed to remind the viewer of the green & blue orb we all live on!
